Live-in care at home

Supporting people within the communities of Clacton, St Osyth and the Tendring Area

Chose live-in care for dedicated, round the clock support in your own home

At Distinguished we realise that having a live-in carer doesn’t mean you want, or need, constant attention – sometimes it’s just reassuring to know you’re not alone.

Whilst our carers are happy to attend to your every need, they are also just as happy to retreat to another room and catch up on chores or paperwork. Your needs and preferences are paramount and we will always respect your decisions and requests. This is essential in a live-in care setting as our carer is a guest in your home.

Your live-in carer will provide...

  • Companion Care – someone to chat to and go to the shops with.
  • Everyday Domestic Care, we’ll prepare meals, clean and garden.
  • Personal Care to help getting up in the morning, washing and taking medication.

Some people worry about having 24-hour care. Having someone who is always there when you need them is essential – but we all need a little personal space.

Our specialist live-in care service offers a comprehensive support package provided by our friendly and experienced management team. We can cover everything that you may need to stay in the comfort of your own home – from housekeeping, personal care and shopping to researching mobility equipment or liaising with tradespeople over routine property maintenance matters.

Popular Questions

Have a question? We’re here to help.

  • How many hours a day is my carer expected to work?

Whilst working on a live-in package, carers will provide an average of 10 hours of care over each 24 hour period. Preferred hours can be agreed between the client and the carer.

  • Where will my carer sleep?

n order to receive live-in care, clients are required to provide a private room for their live-in carer during their stay. Shared facilities such as wash areas and kitchens are acceptable

  • Will my carer work through the night?

When providing a package of live-in care, we must ensure that our carers are allowed 8 hours of down/rest time within a 24 hour period. If the client regularly wakes and requires assistance more than twice during the night time, an additional carer for night shifts can be provided at an additional cost.

  • When will my carer take their break or respite?

Carers are entitled to break or respite of 2 hours per day or alternatively as larger blocks on fewer days.. Times and days for break/respite can be agreed between the client and the carer. A respite carer can be provided by the agency if required at an additional cost.

  • Am I responsible for my carers meals and snacks?

It is common practice for the carer to purchase, prepare and eat food with their clients, there is no obligation for the client to provide food for their carer, however, should the client choose to do so, then a budget of up to £50 per week is permissible and does not breach company policy on gifts and/or financial abuse.

  • Can my carer help me to manage my finances?

Carers are able and willing to help or assist with managing their client’s finances if required, however, there are strict guidelines in place to govern this to ensure the protection of the client and the carer.

  • What if I am unhappy with my carer?

It is our mission to create a bespoke package of care that suits our clients, so in the case that a client is unhappy with their selected carer, we will work together to find a new candidate that is better suited for the role. If the client wishes for the current carer to be removed from the package immediately, we can provide an interim carer until a new long term live-in carer has been chosen.
